Hawk Arps

One of the premier vibes players in the Northwest, currently resides on Lopez Island, Washington. While studying swing, be-bop, and straight ahead jazz at Duke University under the tutelage of Mary Lou Williams, he developed his solo "stride-vibe" style. Later he found inspiration touring the globe with a steel drum band, Bakra Bata', then formed the infamous 12 piece world music ensemble Santos de Lopez. Most recently Hawk is inspired by contemporary New Orleans music. His adroit playing leaves toes tapping and faces smiling.
